Sometimes the government has to give the free market a shove....
More often than not, it leads to graft, inefficiencies, and bridges to nowhere.

It's political sausage-making, for sure, and the results might not be all that bad.

But those are the realities of our "post-carbon" future. Until the market prices of oil and natural gas spike up due to "peak oil" or whatever, renewable energy will always be subsidized by the state.
