Interesting article by Butler, thanks Dara. This article was written on the 16th. The action on SLV since then suggest that it will be down first. The silver mining shares confirm silver itself.

But who can be sure? One thing is sure, technically there is strong support in silver at $24

There is still very deep monetary deflation going on, I wonder what consequences this will have on the price of precious metals in the short term.

Many commodities have rebounded from their spring lows (aka. Light Crude, Lithiium, Copper...), but the bear market is possibly not yet over.

Lightening Up!

The commercials decreased their net short positions in gold and silver.

Ed Steer's comments:

On silver:

"All in all it was a far better COT Report than even I expected." ... " ... the situation is even more 'Code Red' now that it was before ..."

On gold:

"Although yesterday's COT numbers were a big positive surprise, the Big 4 short position in gold is still large enough to choke a horse -- and still a bearish number."

Check out the graphs this week as they show the build up in net short positions more clearly. They are labelled "Position: Short" under the tradingster links here and here.
