"If it wasn't for slavery, I would be in Africa worshipping a tree."

Cuz they have so many tree-huggers, right?

That quote is taken out of context:

Did Florida State Rep. Kimberly Daniels Once Say, 'I Thank God for Slavery'? | Snopes.com
And let me say this to you -- I thank God for slavery. I thank God for the crack house. If it wasn't for the crack house ... God [would never have been able] to use me [as] he can use me now. And if it wasn't for slavery, I might be somewhere in Africa, worshipping a tree.
In other words, she thanked God for carrying her through the injustice she went through, as well as the injustice that her ancestors went through.

At no point did she ever claim that slavery was justified or beneficial.

P.S. - I have no comment yet on DeathSantis claiming that slavery was "beneficial." That'll come later.
