Asian-Americans can be and are both beneficiaries and penalized by affirmative action.
I can confirm this, at least 15 years ago. Back when I was working for Intel, and we were flat out rewarded for hiring "diversity" candidates, we ended up hiring a good number of Asian-American women, because any woman fit the bill.

I doubt that's the case these days, as Asian-American women are no longer "underrepresented" in Silicon Valley.
