Cycomm International Wins Nearly $1 Million Order For PCMobile Computers For Police Departments of St. Louis and St. Louis County

Second Million Dollar Order This Year

MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Cycomm International Inc. (Amex: CYI) announced today that it has been awarded a contract, from United Technologies Corporation, of nearly $1 million to supply 141 of its rugged PC Mobile laptop computers for police vehicles of St. Louis, MO, and St. Louis County. Fifteen units have already been delivered and the remaining 126 units are to be delivered around April 1st, the Company said.

Democratic Congressman Richard Gephardt participated in a demonstration of a pilot unit held in St. Louis in December. St. Louis will receive $1 million in federal money for its PCMobile computer project, which is the first step in an upgrade of the City and County's communication infrastructure.

"This is the second order in the million-dollar category in the first two months of this year for our PCMobile units," said Albert I. Hawk, Cycomm president and chief executive officer. "We are particularly pleased because St. Louis is a significant market, giving PC Mobiles an important base in the Midwest. This order is testimony to the recognition that PCMobile's quality and performance has gained among public safety executives."

The PCMobile units will be used initially for information access by the City police units for vehicle checks as well as to access information from state and federal databases. The St. Louis County Police Department will utilize the mobile computers to access their CAD and Record Management System in addition to displaying mugshots in the patrol vehicles.

"PCMobile will allow officer to perform routine tasks more efficiently as well as increase officer safety," said Ron Henderson, Chief of Police, City of St. Louis.

St. Louis County Police Chief Ron Battelle stated "This is another step in the positive progression our Department is taking to ensure the safety and security of our citizens and officers. This system will increase efficiency while reducing response time. As technology advances, we will constantly look for ways to adapt and improve the laptop functions to continue providing the best police service that we can."

Cycomm's PCMobile computer, with its unique backlit keyboard and ability to withstand everything from coffee spills to a three-foot drop onto concrete, is already in use by many public safety organizations. The Philadelphia and Washington, DC, police departments are among the major municipalities that have contracted for Cycomm's rugged units.

The PCMobile is designed to meet the unique demands of police forces and to perform under the severe operating conditions of public safety vehicles, which experience extreme vibration, sudden starts and stops. PCMobile's sealed magnesium housing can survive abrupt drops and other abuse. The backlit keyboard is a unique feature that enables operation at night while maintaining officer safety. The 133 MHZ processor provides tremendous performance and the high brightness color display is visible even in direct sunlight. PCMobile comes with a new limited lifetime warranty that is unparalleled in the industry.
