Doren,
The second amendment was added because they had already had a supposedly despotic government that tried to take their weapons, and they had a war with government. It was about revolution... not crime control. Sheech.

The 2nd amendment was already confirmed as a right to self-defense:

*******
The Second Amendment - Definition, Text & Rights (history.com)

In the majority ruling in that case (McDonald vs. Chicago), Justice Samuel Alito wrote: “Self-defense is a basic right, recognized by many legal systems from ancient times to the present day, and in Heller, we held that individual self-defense is ‘the central component’ of the Second Amendment right.”
*******

Take that right away, and you'll be left at the mercy of the state for your self-defense needs.

And as we have seen already, the state WILL pick-n-choose which laws to enforce and which people get prioritized when it comes to police protection.

I'll never forget the Rodney King riots, where the Daryl Gates LAPD chose to guard Beverly Hills and all the other "rich" white neighborhoods, leaving all the Korean stores undefended and vulnerable to looting:

Rooftop Koreans - Wikipedia

In your world, however, all of the "rooftop Koreans" would have been arrested and tried for being "vigilantes."
