Falling margins, disappointing growth in advertising and commerce revenues,
skyrocketing costs, insiders jumping ship, a triple digit P/E, newspapers and
broadcasters (Barron's and Brinker) beginning to raise questions about valuation,
potential subscriber revolt, possible loss of market share--a gem like that can do
nothing but go up.
Best,
-Steve
Steve, you forgot to mention that AOL is ranked as THE worst ISP in in ALL catagories in the 12 national ISP's tested by Inverse Network Technology, an independent testing firm in Santa Clara, CA. PC World, Jan 98, has the writeup. This is a great article, required reading.
They list their website as
pcworld.com
However, I know AOL will continue up since I gave my teenage daughter my old PC and she insisted that we get AOL because all her friends have it. I didn't. NEVER.
Further, one of the kid's blocking services will include a program that will also block advertising banners, further reducing ad revenue potential from a lot of websites. --George
