"We already have hydro-electric plants. We already have geothermal plants. Biogas is nice, but more of a niche than anything."

Yeah, we already have everything we need; we just need lots more, and we should still try to improve efficiency.

"we're back to 'building enough solar panels and wind turbines to satisfy the world's energy needs.'"
Are we, or are we back to building more solar, wind, hydro, wave, geothermal 1406995 1410926 , biofuels, storage, and efficiency, along with nukes for those who want them?

Green energy is only one part of the solution.

You look at green energy as someone would look at the economy:

Factories aren't the solution to the economy...

nope. But they're part of the overall solution.

Cars replace wagons in NYC partly because giant mound of horshit wer clogging every street. Rail cars were part of that solution too. Eventally air planes replaced trains.

Electric cars and maybe hydrogen fuel cells will replace gasoline.

When cars first competed with wagons there were electric, steam, gas powered. It wasn't one it was technology gradually showed gas was the best option at the time.

One of these might be perfect in my future. I don't want an E-bike because I ride for exercise. This thing will carry 8 @ 60 lbs of concrete, or 2x4s or or. They are popular in nordic countries. One of the best designs I've ever seen.

Thinking about an electric car? An e-bike may make more sense (and save you more money)

> We already have hydro-electric plants

A large one is being removed as I type I believe. Salmon have been decimated by Dams. To the point killer whales populations are shrinking. Native American economies are dependent to some extent on salmon.

Its not that we have to get rid of EVERY dam... but we need to balance what we get with what we lose.

Four aging dams are slated to be removed from the Klamath River beginning as soon as next year

It is controversial... I'm not one who thinks Native American love nature more than anyone else... Casinos popping up all over reservations prove that's a myth.

But democracy is democracy... we have rules and the people up there have decided that this is best.

I for one think solar is in my future, the more I know the more I think its way WAY cost effective and the more I know the less I want to be at the mercy of power companies.
