The Sun is not shrinking. If you recall from Rolf Witzsche, it is one z-pinch that lies on a plasma stream spanning many, many light years along which are formed other z-pinches (stars). As long as there's enough flow in the stream, the Sun shouldn't shrink. There's some oscillation to the stream with a very long term frequency. And harmonic stuff happens cyclicly too.
