That's fantastic as a family function, congratulations!

Just make sure any hand-me-down watches still in use underwater are occasionally pressure tested, etc. It only takes one bad battery replacement to butcher a waterproofing of any quartz watch! If it were me, I'd keep those old ones above water to enjoy and buy new cheapies for diving, etc.

The old style G-Shocks can still be bought for cheap on sale NIB online. My family didn't have the same pedigree as yours when it came to the water but as soon as they could, my parents saw fit to throw my sister and me into the water at the local YMCA to teach us how to swim. And that's an early memory, not just the experience but the smell of the chlorine, etc.
