Both can be true, but communism has been equally bad.
Nope. Communism is worse. Much worse.

The left thinks they can come up with a more "benevolent" form of communism by pursuing what they call "democratic socialism."

But it can be argued that there are hardly any differences between "democratic socialism" and full-blown communism.
