Edward, like the aging lothario with money, he can still attract a coterie of self serving people. Like the rich lotharios get trophy brides(virtual hookers, by any other name, like A N Smith), the rich 'technarios' get high tech yes men/women, who tell him what he wants to know for the money/glory/bizarre sex. The technario is unaware that his knowledge is dated, but he has money and thus has friends. Unattractive?, but true for Jobs. If he was just a hustler off the street he would not find any takers.
