Q:I have never understood why anyone would want to
trade at a SOES house when they can just do it in the
comfort of their own home. Reasons?

A: 1. Speed of execution. If you are using a dial up phone line the speed of info is not as fast as being on site, with faster pipe.
2. More eyes and ears. One can't scan the entire market, by being in an environment with other traders you can pick up on moves that you would have missed.
3. Friendship, simply dealing with people that are in the same game. Having some support after a loosing streak, or party time after a great rally, etc.
4. Instant tech support for any trading/software/hardware problems that may occur.

SW,

The other response to your post gives some valid reasons for not staying at home, but I'm inclined to agree with you. I hope to set up at home too. I'll give up the social aspects of a trading house, as long as I can get the speed and reliability I need from the service.

It appears from your profile you are using Castle. I've read a few things here on SI about reliability problems that make me nervous about using them. Any thoughts based on your experience?

Dan

I will soon be using CyberTrader from my home. There is some concern over internet access speeds. Currently I use a 56k modem with IBM net as the acess provider. Do you know of anyone who has tried modem bonding? I understand that one can obtain 80k plus from this new technology.
