There is some truth to all of that.

> Environment...

The air in Los Angeles is a LOT cleaner than it used to be. Yeah they're a little overboard, but which would you rather have? Dirty air, more cancer, more emphysema etc etc etc?

> unaffordable housing

On the other hand our homes are safer because of regulations. I'm a former contractor so I know a lot more about this problem than you do. Much of this of course is due to huge amounts of money the tech industry has made. Leftists and rightists... all white collar people.

Part of that is competition for resources.

Basically regulations, and particularly zoning are made by white collar America. Rightist think its OK to put toxic waste dumps in OTHER people's neighborhoods.

Most kids in America think people who build homes are "losers" left and right.

> NIMBYISM - very true white collar America left and right is SELFISH

> attracting the homeless to California

That's nonsense. You might contend weather attracts some. What do you think, when they lose their homes or apartments they charter jets to California?

> 1/3 of the nation's homeless

Housing costs

> liberals never owning up to the problem

I'd say conservatives are just as bad. Drug laws are making criminals mountains of money. After 100 years of failed drug wars we are, predictably as the sun rising in the east, worse off.

We are the handgun murder capital of the world... mostly due to the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow lingering on in ghettos. But America is ALL ABOUT VIOLENCE to solve problems. There are so many examples of that I'm not going to list them. TV... Proud Boys... Wars...

Tenchu has brought ONE thing to my attention:

Its a lot easier to point out a problem... and then blame someone for it...

than it is create and propose new solutions.

For example: Libertarians have pointed out the drug wars don't work and are even counterproductive. Making the problem worse. Obviously... 100 years of failure prove that without a doubt.

The solution is obvious and rational... which is why we don't do it. Decriminalization of addictive drugs, making addicts take courses about addiction. Providing drugs at cost taking the profits out of organized criminal bank accounts. Legalizing non-damaging drugs like marijuana or mushrooms.

The immigration problem IS a problem. Its a financial problem. Immigrants undermine salaries, break unions and use our infrastructure having not paid into it.

The solution is obvious and rational...

I've proposed we tax immigrants 2x as much for 5 working years, and as long as they don't commit crimes, let them work for and gain citizenship. A solution immigrants themselves approve of.

- We'd need a smaller immigration bureaucracy.

- It'd discourage criminals... who'd lose their chance at citizenship permanently if they commit crimes. Hopefully they'd just stay away. Particularly if we decriminalize drugs.

- Instead of working underground immigrants would be happy to pay double taxes. Just like going to college you pay to better economic chances.

- We could use the tax money we otherwise wouldn't get from under the table work to retrain US workers and build more infrastructure. Hire more teachers.

And yet the left thinks that's unfair to immigrants and the right are just bigots who are happy to hire immigrants to mow their lawns and install their drywall.

So we are GOING TO MAKE THE SAME STUPID MISTAKES... permanently.

One thing we need more than anything else, in business and politics is CREATIVITY.
