What will the Fed do and will it matter?

Reversing last weeks' action, the commercials have decreased their net short positions in both gold and silver. In gold the commercials increased their long position and decreased their short position. In silver the change in the commercials' position was mainly decreasing their short position. See here and here and here.

Gold has bounced off its 200 dma and is looking enticing as is the HUI and the other metals - silver, copper and platinum.

WTIC is overbought and could correct even though the fundamentals are very strong what with the US SPR being at a 40 year low, BRICS+ cutting oil production and a Chevron strike in Australia. Natgas seems to have consolidated. Will it breakout?

The US$ has made a new high for this move. The DOW and SPX have had a bounce and the TSX looks ready to promising!

Ed Steer's comments:

For gold:

"Hopefully Friday's price action was the beginning of the next major rally in gold -- and the best we can do now is just sit back and wait to see how thing unfold in the days and weeks ahead."

For silver:

"But make no mistake about it, the set-up for a moon shot rally in silver from a COMEX futures market is firmly in place...as is Ted's 'CODE RED"."
