Typhoon,
Hi!!! Michael Dell says that the sub $1000 PC has "handed" them a tremendous opportunity....namely the second time buyers that will buy in the near future....I feel the Asian situation with component costs will increase their margins...the servers and workstations also will help this margin increase...and when the conference call occurs on Wednesday....Europe will be the big discussion....if they are ready to buy and increase their homes and businesses in the present and near future Dell is going to explode....IMO that conference call is key to the future of Dell this year...if all of these and other possibilities occur...BUY DELL .....the price is going through the roof...

Sometime this winter Meathead responded to your question about the ASP.....I have it in my collection of posts....he felt they could even rise with the workstations and servers....his post was ##26566 dated Dec. 30th to me....or a better one yet: Jan.2 # 26754 where he points out to Paul Orr Jones:
"My research indicates Dell will continue to surprise to the upside leaving analysts scratching their heads in amazement as to how Dell is able to maintain healthy margins and solid revenue growth with desktop prices coming down. Desktop prices coming DOWN....gee doesn't this sound a lot like 19991,1992,1993,1994,1995,1996....
Dell has told everyone what they are doing, why and how...a lot of folks don't analyze, read, comprehend or just plain get it. This is why I find it AMAZING that bears short the stock primarily because Dell forgoing low margin systems favoring higher margin opportunities that conservatively still represent over 85% of the entire PC universe."
Best, Kemble
