Because for every Microsoft, there are multitudes of BAAT, an IOM, an RMIL, a CTN and the like. Tends to give momentum trading a bad name.

Here's one way to look at it.

If you have already determined that the stock has a attractive
value. And you already have a position in the stock. You
would want to maximize your profits by buying at the lowest
possible price. Of course you are if fact causing downward
pressure on your own long position. But when others catch on
to the value of the stock, it will be naturally pushed upward.
Your way of investing keeps the stocks moving upward. That
type of investor I like! They make me more money.
I, on the other hand, like to bid as low as possible and still
add to my position.
On the other hand, I too will add as the stock goes up but
of course then it takes more money. I get less shares and
make less money. Both ways work. I'm sure rising stocks are
safer to a certain extent. I think it all depends on how well
you have done your dd, and how well you 'know' the stock.
Just my opinion.

SETO is a good value at the current level. IMO
But if you can buy it at half the current price does that
make it a less attractive investment? What do you mean?
