I did my homework. And I posted a link about that site being a source of Russian disinformation. Given that the same claim had previously appeared on RT.com, the conclusion is obvious.

Besides, the US had few interests at stake. The EU had a far greater stake in it. If the claim was that they were behind it, it at least would have made sense to engage in such a high risk event. For the US, not so much. While blunting a movement of Ukraine into the Russian sphere of influence would have not made us happy, it wasn't worth the risk.
