There has been affect from asia, as revs from asian countries have decreased to 10% from roughly 16%.....Cisco is looking for single digit gains in 1998, so no surprises. when this asian thing finally turns around, watch out!

Luigi, I'm not an insider nor an expert,
but IMO Chambers has already discounted Asia for the interim... this year. Based on CC and IBD article (2/17), it's not their current focus and they're downplaying it: 10% of revenue or less. I believe that he'll be here for the Asians to 'help them be successful' and turn future partnerships into win-wins when the time is appropriate (maybe next year).

Chambers' indicated they're looking for revenue in new areas: Europe and new technologies. If they take a slight downturn during this next quarter it's probably no surprise to analysts, 1) because Chambers' said it's typically a difficult quarter for them and 2)they're making the investment in VDV and about 1500 new employees in engineering and sales; which they've accounted for. The main point here is that they're investing in themselves and it takes a little while for the payoff and returns on those investments. I wouldn't mind seeing a little dip so I could buy more.

For now, I'm real interested in following to see where CSCO forms new alliances or partnerships, in telecom or services. Chambers seems to be looking for partnerships that are wins for those who are willing to participate... It's like "wake up business world.... do you want to to pull away from the pack...create something that will benefit not only business but society..... figure out a way to work with Chambers and CSCO! you can't lose!"

I recently ran a stock screening using Investools to scan for Blue Chip companies with high revenue growth and high projected EPS growth. CSCO beat out everything: MS, INTC, DELL, ORCL. No wonder almost every fund has CSCO in it. I think even Buffet would invest in CSCO if networking was something he 'understood'. But you know Warren, he likes to have things that are simple and everyone understands: Coke, candy, hamburgers, dairy queens, and silver. Who knows, he may even come around in the next few years when the internet is everywhere!.

CSCO's '98 year ends this July and it will be strong (IMO).

Ciao Luigi Gandolfo,
nice to meet s.one dalla Garfagnana in SI, I am fm Bagni di Lucca and presently in Florence!
I am also in NT, CSCO, LU; does anyone have an opinion on why NT
has gone only sideways recently, while LU is up >20% since Nov. 97?
Will NT follow up or LU retreat?
Ritorni in G. ogni tanto? Saluti anche a Yacoov
