It surprises me how people generally are unconcerned with other people being murdered, and even themselves and their families. They trot out a few cliches and slogans and are willing to die for those beliefs as though those slogans and cliches are reality. "Putin invaded Ukraine, so we have to go full scale deflection to Armageddon". "Putin wants to rebuild the USSR so we have to go MAD."
The laughable CIA propaganda out of Ukraine has been so constant that it's surprising anybody takes it slightly seriously. Once somebody is established as a liar distorting or outright making stuff up, it's wise to treat everything they say as fake. Which is not to say Russia in general or Putin or particular don't make stuff up. For example, it was a plain lie that they were not going to invade when the Russian army was stacked around Ukraine. But it did seem they were falling into the April Glaspie trap and would make great target prractise for all the new-fangled rocketry, drones, lasers and whatever out of DARPA and co.
Russia has in fact got sufficient military wherewithal and fancy stuff themselves to hold the line. After 200 years of being attacked, they didn't give up developing military equipment and preparedness just because USSR and the Warsaw Pact fell apart in internal division and squabbling. NATO continuing to roll up closer and closer to Moscow with Ukraine and Crimea being the next big NATO victory was one too much for them.
Unlike East Germany, Poland, Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, Crimea was always part of Russia. Certainly since my misguided great great grandfather John Arms was injured and died from the English attempt to take Crimea back in 1856.
Crimea was also the only southern outlet via the Black Sea and Bosphorus with Sevastopol a major naval base for Russia, so it's not that it was an obscure detail somewhere in the hinterlands of Russia.
Once the coup in Kiev was successful, instigated and run by Victoria Nuland, JoeBigGuy10%, Nobel Peace Prize Obama and co-conspirators, Ukraine ceased to exist as a country with foreign brute force running the show, so it's fair enough that Russia join with USA and support Russia's local team mates and tribal affiliates. There's no reason USA's Rule by Making Up Rules should immediately take over Ukraine and have a free hand to start killing Russians who prefer Scottish, Irish and English-style independence from bigger political associations like Great Britain, United Kingdom, Eurostan. Voting is a good way to avoid murdering.
Since voting was not on the agenda of Mr Nobel Peace Prize and his murdering co-conspirators, it was perfectly reasonable for Russia to join the action and back Russians living in Ukraine.
It seems that until Americans start being killed in sufficient numbers, they'll just keep the onslaught going. They are using Herr Gruppenfuhrer Stoltenberg and German tanks to prepare invasion of Russia via Poland and Norway. Germans driving tanks to Moscow is reminiscent of something 80 years ago. I can understand Russians don't want that.
Even after the USA bombed their pipelines, Germans continue to ignore who their actual opposition is. Can they really not understand that Russia's rockets with atomic bombs in Kaliningrad and everywhere were built to defend against just this situation? Berlin is a one-bomb city. Russia's rockets work. So do their megatons. They did the deliveries to the space station for example. They do know how to build rockets. They have done hundreds of rocket demonstrations during the current Ukraine war, all the way to the Romanian border.
It seems USA wants to go full scale deflection. Euroserfs are going along with it. Credulous people among my friends and family think Russia has to be stopped and conquered. It's amazing to hear them say their silly slogans and cliches to justify what's coming to them.
I can see how the carnage of WWI got going and soon after that, WWII.
Even while they commemorated the centennial of WWI with their stupid cliches "Never again", "Lest We Forget", "blah blah blah", their deaths were being prepared for them in Washington by crazed loons on full display. Now they are surging into Nuclear Armageddon. It's amazing to see and dreadful.
Perhaps they think Russia will just accept being conquered. There's not much track record of that. The opposite has been true despite Russian deaths in the tens of millions. This time though, they can deliver death in sub orbital flight to a town near you via reliable rocket.
The bet seems to be that Russia won't do that despite the many warnings that that's the existential end game if push comes to shove and the Yank Tanks are rolling to Moscow. Perhaps squabbling in Russia will cause a Kievan coup in Moscow but it's not looking likely with China, North Korea, India and others refusing to join the onslaught against Russia, so Russia's economy continues to thrive and they are holding the line in Ukraine.
The sensible thing to do is what I wrote in the beginning, and what Elon Musk came around to agreeing with me to do = leave Crimea as part of Russia, and hold Scottish style referenda and Brexit style voting, and Quebec electoral self-determination and Irish-method independence by We the People in the various countries of Donetsk, Luhansk, Z-place to run themselves as neutral countries, like those in what was Yugoslavia.
Europe's borders over a thousand years of Malthusian competition have changed constantly. It's not going to be a problem to break up the eastern Ukraine region into self-managing smaller countries.
Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Luxembourg, Lichenstein, Andorra, etc are small and seem to get along okay. Small is beautiful. Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and others are also small and perfectly capable of running their own countries.
Hey, that's an idea = Hong Kong and Taiwan could also become little neutral countries and run their own affairs
without military threat to surrounding bigger countries. Then there would be no need for the End of the World to take place there either, and the local yokels could live happily ever after.
