I would opt for a bubble as far away as possible from any hospital... making it both much less risk to my health, and much harder for them to get to me to kill me. Technology, obviously, has done much to advance the quality of our medicine. But, in the actual "practice" of care, at least since Florence Nightingale, I think the quality of effort in the actual delivery of care has atrophied... often to less than her standard. Science hasn't stopped contributing advances... but the institutions are failing to remain relevant, and only less sustain any ability to enable progress. Covid provided an obvious test... which "medicine" broadly has clearly failed, spectacularly... And, not merely a failure in "method" in delivery... it accelerated much of the decline occurring in what was already obviously wrong with medicine... including the politicization of participation... deliberate suppression of informed opinion... in result forcing many or most of the best out of the profession... certainly causing a "brain drain" with a lot of "opting out" and "early retirements". Of course, that problem we see imposed in medicine... is not restricted to medicine... but is reflected in and amplified by its influence corroding the social function of... everything... making it less. And in the wake of that "proof"... inertia rules. Nothing is being changed, today, to address the obvious shortcomings that were exposed. Hospitals serving as infection distribution centers... amplified and proven during the event... has resulted in what change ? The "masks work" lie... fostered out of institutional convenience in self defense... persists... because they can't admit the lie. That single element, in itself... requires an awareness that a system that can't be truthful... can't be useful... as the instance is paired with proofs. Not that its the only instance. The technology to make masks work exists... which doesn't make all masks you might flog... or require for purely political interest in imposing control over others... actually useful ? With "the season" apparently returning in some places... you might want to invest a couple of bucks to obtain a stock of masks that do actually work... just in case you need to leave your distantly located bubble and land in near proximity to a hospital. N-100 masks easily available... actually do confer a benefit.
