George, I disagree with your last statement. The Serbs were murdering Moslems in Bosnia, and we intervened to stop this genocide. Unfortunately we cannot intervene in all genocides, and the truth is that politics stinks. The truth is also that we got into the game against Hitler despite the isolationist movement in the US. Roosevelt had to let Pearl Harbor be bombed (apparently we knew of the impending attack), to finally get congress to join in the fight on the side of the Britain, which was on the verge of collapse. The fact that Hitler was sending Jews and communists into gas chambers had nothing to do with our intervention. When the Jewish leadership (the little that was left) asked the allies to bomb the concentration camps and the gas chambers, they were told that it is not a good strategic target. How is that for controversy?
