My point is having a timeline for how long to hold a stock is inherently a flawed approach, as new information between purchase and the future will change the timeline.

So .... why have a timeline?

We own stocks today because we think tomorrow they will go up. For various reasons. And then as time passes, we adjust our opinions, sometimes leading to a sell, other times a hold, and other times to an add.

That's reality.
