Is this in addition to the fees they get from their share of paid search clicks?
Google pays Apple $18B to $20B a year to keep its search in iPhone
That is does Google paying what is similar to Coke paying a grocer to place their products at the front of the store or on the header? Thus the store makes money on every Coke product sold PLUS they get the header fees even if nothing sells.

I use both Edge and Chrome on my 3 monitor setup. I like Chrome for search as it uses Google since Bing seems inferior.. but I like Edge for handling many websites like Meta that seem to overload Chrome making my keyboard feel like molasses.

My guess is most don't bother switching search engines on phones as easily as we do on laptops... but I sure don't see it as anticompetitive any more than Budweiser paying for store placement shoves out small brewers who can't afford to pay for headers in grocery stores.
