What do Spyglass and Yahoo have to do with each other? I don't get the parallel.

Hear, hear. Yahoo is the market leader, Spyglass never was. The closest we have to Yahoo is AOL, NSCP and AMZN.

What SPYG 96 and YHOO 98 have in common.

Both internet companies.
Both trading at huge PEs.
Both have experience hyper-growth over last 1-2 years.
Both have risen on short squeezes.
Both are targeting a market which will grow faster than development costs.
Both are being forced to start to take on big players.
Both have incredibly rosy scenarios in front of them.

There businesses were no different. Each was trying to be the front door to the web. YHOO will no more be able to do it the Yahoo! way than SPYG was it's way. When MSFT starts playing in this sandbox, some of the little guys are going to get bullied.
