To answer your questions re bigfoot.com

1. they don't allow spam and in fact have filters you can setup to eliminate some of it.
2. I have sent email to myself, and it arrives seconds after I sent it.
3. Like many internet services, they make their money from advertisers on their website, and from charges for more advanced options. They will, I am sure, be acquired soon by some big company just as Hotmail.com was recently acquired by MSFT.
4. Until recently we might have wondered how/why SI could do it for free as well.

Brooks,
The bigfoot address is great. You can change it if you get unwanted mail. I posted a bigfoot address on SI and when I started getting threatening mail from company shills I changed the bigfoot address. AltaVista also offers free email addresses. Anonamous e-mail is nice to have if you post on a short board. Be careful about answering mail though. Even if you set up Netscape with the bigfoot return your ISP number is shown so someone can find you. How about "Securities-Law@bigfoot.com" That would be interesting. Or "Hit-Man@bigfoot.com" maybe "Peter-Lynch@bigfoot.com" would be interesting.
