Larry, prior to WWII, Stalin caused the death of no less than 10 Millions Kulaks (not Kurlaks-<VBG>). this was a class of little framers that owned their own land, and their demise plunged the Soviet into a famine. I will not tell you the horrors of more than 20 MM russians dying during the war, they had help on that one. I think that the Russian in the last century have suffered more than any other nation (maybe except the Jews, but then, they are not exactly a "nation"- except, according to our "great father Stalin" if they settled in Birobijan), and maybe, it is time for them to experience a little prosperity. Larry, First of all I feel that I got slightly carried away, however when I see someone attacked for his ideas with words "you ought to be ashamed of yourself" , I feel that this is a personal attack, and usually uncalled for. As long as I can recall the US has always had a bad guy,, Ghadafi , Khomeni, on and on. During this time I have watched friends and aquaintences jump on each bandwagon, complete with anger and visciousness. The only time they failed to convince everyone was Viet Nam, IMHO. What the USSR was purported to use doesn't really matter, it was the mistrust and hate that was fostered towards them that matters. Yes , living on this border is quite comfortable, and many times I ask myself, "since there is not enough pie to go around , perhaps it is better that I am associated with the strongest" Does the end justify the means?" Perhaps. Pinko,, By even the slightest indication from your lips that the USSR was not the type to be evil enough to use Chemical or other such weapons. Living in Kuwait,, Seems to me that all the installed billionaire sheiks and families were removed when war threatened . If It's any consolation Larry, My wife agrees with you, however when you insinuate that I am deluded, and prejudiced, that the previous poster and myself should be ashamed, that I engage in vapid smear jobs,when you refer to the leader of a country as a murderous thug and mass murderer in the same short paragraph no less, as opposed to using his name, that what I say is intellectual rubbish , well you get the idea.
