I have been studying the TLK situation for a few days, attempting to assess a reasonable entry point. I like the grimness of the situation but recognize that civil war and the demise of Mr. Suharto could open the way to more reasonable values.

I noticed that Mr. Suharto sits with Mr. Banbang Subianto (President Commissioner and the Member of Commissioners) and that even if these two intimates fade, Telkom is too much of a golden goose to be plundered to death: net income allegedly up 68% in a year. Also, state plundering of telcos is getting harder, what with call-back schemes and satellites.

My approach is to divide a speculative investment in three tranches and to establish positions during the next 4 months, with entry points predicated by disasters of moment.

Thoughts?
