The Video Module Interface (VMI) in Intel's 740 graphics chip, used to connect with DVD decoders such as CUBE's, has been around for a couple of years. It was developed by SGS-Thomson and others.

Information on VMI:

VMI is standardized as CCIR-601:

CUBE's ZiVA, and apparently Zoran's chip have a VMI interface. So do other chips.
