when the democratic party became the party of liberals all those right wing conservatives went republican. The republican party of Lincoln was not right wing conservative. The democrats have long since dumped the promoters of the KKK...JIM CROW....WHITE SUPREMACY.....RACISM.....THE two partys switched horses in mid stream.....and yes they never got over it....the daughters of the confederacy kept all that hate alive and idolized the confederate cause in a different light erecting statues and flags and continuing extreme discrimination which continues to this day.
