Re monitor fwip, 1) I think you have to stand back a ways, like by the doorway or fridge, 2) any crunchy vegetable or food (except chicken) will do, and 3) I don't think you have to be online, just on.
Ten feet away is good. I used all my carrots, but I think I have some celery I can confirm with.

I can't believe you, of all people, are unaware of this effect.

Celery works, but not as good as carrots, or Fall Hood River Apples, (speaking from memory, of course); from a distance of 5 to 12 feet is best. You CAN'T be right next to the monitor.
