Came accross an article about Siemens' fingertip sensor. Cannot provide a link. (anybody else?) Talks about Siemens achieving a major breakthrough in security technology with the development of the FingerTip sensor, which, for the first time, combines all of the fingerprint digitising functionality on the silicon chip itself, and enables the recognition and evaluation of a fingerprint in real time. Small and flat, the sensor can easily be incorporated into smartcards, which could then provide totally secure access in a broad range of applications, such as computers, cars, mobile 'phones, and Oven from your home.
