Guy,

The problem is that as the 'world' comes 'online', the load seems to increase to infinity! Paying more for service doesn't work if the distant end is totally overloaded! Take you example of stock quotes for instance! During a 'busy day' there could easily be 1 million people trying to get quotes during the 6 hour day which amounts to 46 responses per second, and it assumes that there is no 'connect and access' time! What if the person wants to 'do a little trading', the time increases significantly. Next, the internet is trying to market to everyone, and the load on the 'switching' system is immense! I think that we have probably seen the best that it is going to be until some 'heavy hitters' (multi-processor-NON Stop computers are put on line) are in service! Still, the 'switching' network WILL NOT STAND UP TO THE TRAFFIC!

It is a tough spot!

Thoughts?
