hey skipper.. nice post written by you below: couple questions: what is overdiversification? meaning, at what point would you "classify" that? could you give some numbers for mutual funds and stocks? i guess for stocks, no more than 10-15 holdings? mutual funds --> im not sure.. If so, aren't you somewhat overdiversified? In my experience with systems, I've found that net return goes up when I limit the number of funds to the strongest performers. Also, I believe that even though the Fidelity Selects have a 3% load, it may be justified to pony-up and pay this once to get the very-best returns when expecting to trade sectors over the very long term (10-20 years). Just wanting to get your thoughts. Of course, I'd love to not have to pay that 3% load, but that was done years ago and I might as well stay with it now... especially since I have my DAA's set up to trade Fidelity Sectors. For new money, I'm going to hold off for a while until I hear more about Rydex Sectors. I market time also (In reality, what I do is called TAA - Tactical Asset Allocation). I have a long term and an intermediate term system for the overall market set up on my Investograph For Windows package. Both are on Buys now so I'm in. I'm still in the learning process and if you have a special, secret timing system - I'll trade you one-for-one. If you don't have Investograph For Windows, what do you say to making some other arrangement? It may benefit both of us to compare notes and experiences on market timing (from your and my profiles, I see that age is an asset!). Please e-mail me.
