** CANADA BEATS KASZAKSTAN IN TEH ICE HOCKEY ***

Great game - Kazakstan put up a real fight but did not quite have the talent. Wait for the next olympics.

Source TSN:
(February 18, 7:09 am et) Joe Nieuwendyk and Shayne Corson scored 42 seconds apart to start the game as Canada survived a first period scare en route to a 4-1 win over Kazakhstan. Canada will face the Czech Republic in the semifinal after they knocked off the United States 4-1.

Nieuwendyk opened the scoring 91 seconds into the game and Canada appeared poised for a rout after Corson's first goal of the Olympics. But Konstantin Shafranov cut the lead in half and it stayed that way until Brendan Shanahan's goal late in the second period. Steve Yzerman closed out the scoring for Canada and Wayne Gretzky finished with two points.
