Respond to of 97431 My wife got a couple pairs of shoes last week at Nordstrom Rack. She can't find her size anymore at Nordstrom. I think the last time I was in Macy's was about 7-years ago. It looked like a hollowed out shell of its former self. It looked empty both in customers and inventory. I haven't been back since. About the only traffic in there seemed to be trying stuff on that they were going to get from a cheaper source on Amazon. I can say that most goods business, be it retail or commercial, is going to minimal in-person service at the point of sale from here on out. We are automating many routine purchasing functions next year. Right now they are semi-auto, but they are going full on without any human work from purchase to payment. We aren't going to reconcile any Amazon stuff anymore because they are about 99.99% accurate on what they ship. Why waste time checking it? The only problem we have with them is when their drivers geolocate the wrong place for our deliveries. That's happened twice last year, and it goofed up shipments for a month at a couple locations. What that means is that no matter what address is on the label, the driver goes to the geolocated address they have in their system for that customer and drops the stuff there. That's the only problem we've had with Amazon, and some of the larger industrial supply houses are similar in their accuracy. The computer hardware suppliers are similarly accurate with our shipments. Production supply is different. That needs to be watched like a hawk. I know our people in purchasing don't want to ever talk to salespeople. They just want the data. They don't want golf, lunch, dinner, or any other time wasting thing. Just give the best price, quality, service, and delivery and forget the rest of that nonsense. Time at our place is so tight and schedules so full that most people don't have spare minutes during the day even without spending time with time wasters.
