Tom, this may help explain somewhat (and we can also discuss more here): Message 3435991

So if T1E1.413 goes forward at sometime, ADI already HAS the tone-swapping algorithm. And if UAWG *doesn't* use tone swapping, and the field evolves differently (eg, Paradyne MVL), it doesn't really matter.

Either way, TI owning Amati patent is a non-issue, IMO.
