I've seen the Nomai capacity of 10 million disks/year mentioned before, too.

I don't know what Iomega's (Fuji's?) production capacities are, but I've seen analyst numbers indicating about half the disk sales that you mentioned:

1996: 22.5 million
1997: 50 million
1998: 100 million (estimate)

It's interesting that these each work out to a 7:1 tie rate.

I don't know which of these are actual numbers and which ones are estimates, but they seem like they could be pretty close to me.

Also, it's interesting to note that Iomega DID give their tie rates once. When they announced the millionth Zip drive sold (around March 1996?), they also announced that slightly less than 10 million Zip disks had been sold.
