Eric,
Boeing, Airbus and a few international airlines working on biofuels.
Working on what, exactly? We already have biofuels.

They create more CO2 emissions than they reduce.

U.S. corn-based ethanol worse for the climate than gasoline, study finds (Reuters)
The research, which was funded in part by the National Wildlife Federation and U.S. Department of Energy, found that ethanol is likely at least 24% more carbon-intensive than gasoline due to emissions resulting from land use changes to grow corn, along with processing and combustion.
Of course, politicians LOVE corn ethanol because they can buy off the rural votes, especially in those Trump-supporting "red states."

Then the Navy pumps biofuels into aircraft carriers so that admirals looking to advance their political careers can brag about a "green Navy":

'Great Green Fleet' using biofuels deployed by U.S. Navy (Reuters)

I can already hear the Chinese admirals screaming over the comms, "We must retreat, General! Our cruisers can't repel environmental friendliness of that magnitude," as they abort their planned invasion of Taiwan ...
