I notice from the same survey that Columbia/HCA went from No. 1 in its category to No. 10 in just one year. What does this suggest about the value of such a survey?

Hey Duncan,
Do you know when the survey was done? U.S Robotics which did not exist since about mid 97 is listed. If its a survey (data collected) done in early 97, its meaningless when it comes to Bay.

I care a lot less about the opinions of industry and street sources than I do about investment performance. If CS and COMS are better companies than BAY why are their stocks languishing near their lows while BAY has mounted a significant comeback. I love CSCO but believe the most investors in CS and COMS can hope for is a buyout.

Thanks Duncan. Considering it took Fortune 1 year to send out surveys and print the results, I'm not surprised that Bay ranked in the basement. After all, up until right before the survey, Ludwick was running the company. If you read the FAQ's

pathfinder.com

the last question about companies i.e. US Robotics no longer existing and why they are still listed, Fortune says these things happen between the time surveys are sent out and results published. I see merger date's between Feb 14 1997 and Jan 28 1998 which tells me it took them a longggggg time to complete the survey. Kind of like Cisco getting the Granite box out the door. Or maybe that 29xx thing that showed up a year later.

I won't bore you anymore of what I think about the report because to you, it's just my vivid imagination. Right?
