a 21 day stochastic oscillator is still headed sharply down. It's been pretty spiky because of the volatility you mention. I also agree that a quiescent period is unlikely right now.

While all the pessimism is in front of us, it's easy to overlook the potential positive reaction that can be sudden on the receipt of good news. All the pent up pressure could release the stock very nicely once that lid comes off.

I have just read a MS research report on IIT and TLK dated 16 Feb, by Jeff Camp and Lina Choi, in which they report recently proposed price increases in Indonesia. MS has just upgraded TLK from an underperform to a neutral and are leaving IIT at a neutral. However, the ability to implement these price hikes and the assumptions the MTPT is making about the rupiah strike me as extremely optimistic. Nonetheless, if you can look out for a year or two both are still probably a reasonable bet.
