Sure seems that way.

Way back in 1978 I was working at KCTS-9 here in Seattle in the engineering dept. I was in charge of maintenance and system planning and one day got a phone call from the traffic department at our station.

The three commercial stations in town (CBS, NBC and ABC affiliates) wanted us to record some sat feeds that were going to go thru PBS's new satellite distribution system. None of them had Sat capabilities.

CNN did not exist yet.

Jim Jones had poisoned over 900 people down in Guyana. Because most of our staff was out with flu that day I jumped in and recorded feeds off of the WestStar 1 Sat for them.

That's where the original phrase "drink the KoolAid" came from.
