EXCELLENT POINT!!! Agree wholeheartedly. My sense from DIVX initially when it came out was that it looked good. (Would address Hollywood's fears. Plus option of buying disc if one wanted was fabulously smart.) But times they have a changed. One of the most interesting things I read recently was the cold reaction DIVX had at some DVD related shindig recently. Figured that was a great indicator that perhaps DIVX was in trouble. But the extra $100 price tag will surely be a HUGE negative factor over the long haul. May be the real important nail in the DIVX coffin that could make DVD the better deal. (TSO knows my famous and oft repeated argument about the importance of appropriate price points in the consumer electronics area.) Any way excellent news. Did it say who's making DIVX players? I'm not aware of who's in there. Certainly most of the big boys are already in DVD. So presumably some of them would also have to be interested in DIVX. Which seems like balancing one's bets if you are an OEM but perhaps too expensively (Why push 2 types of players?). Could be a smaller player manufacturing? Some may do both or all 3 types but that would be really weird! (and possible I guess)
