Eric is arrogant and self-absorbed, coupled with a deep insecurity, a powerful sense of entitlement and a carefully nurtured sense of resentment towards anyone that does not share his beliefs. For Eric science has become a matter of faith, his dogma is anything published by Carl Sagan. What people like Eric want is entitlement and the government to limit free speech on anything that contradicts or challenges their dogma.
