did not realize that hotbot was owned by msft. i have always liked hotbot as an engine. if this is true, yukon, using this as a base could be very powerful.

I'm not sure how much of this is true. The story I know is that Inktomi provides the technology that drives the Hotbot search engine. In fact, they might have even created Hotbot. Now, last October, MS announced an agreement with Inktomi to use the Inktomi search technology with MSN and possibly, other things like yukon. Here's a link to the MS/Inktomi press release:

Does MS have an equity stake in Inktomi? Who knows, but as of today, Inktomi is still an independent, privately held company. Hope this clears some things up.
