If you are betting your $$ on what boils down to 70 mpg on the highway, consider that the Jetta TDI (diesel and more than 1000 lbs. heavier than the Geo Metro) gets 50 mpg on the highway: (1) with normal tire inflation; (2) normal gearing; (3) adequate torque across the RPM range, thus enabling stop-and-start driving as well as constant-speed test-track cruising; (4) current availability; and (AFTER EDIT) (5) 100K/ten year power train warranty.

The results I've seen so far are hardly revolutionary. My v. small long position is looking to the underlying technology (Dolphin and zinc-air) and its integration into whatever develops as a next-generation car. My guess (AFTER EDIT) is that if he has something with the Dolphin, it will be incorporated into a small, constant-speed engine used principally to charge batteries or capacitors or to spin flywheels.
