Andreas, It's not surprising that LGND is rated a STRONG BUY by Zack's. On Dec 31, Bear Stearns put out new earnings estimates that included a 1999 profit ($0.09). So far they seem to be the only one with numbers for 1999 (listed in reports that came out last week or earlier). I'm pretty certain that Bear Stearns showed a significant loss in earlier estimates. Just over a week ago, LGND showed a major reduction in their 4Q, 1997 loss, and the surprise ranked #1 or #2. Last week Roberston Stephens came out with new earnings estimates. They show an EPS of $0.00 for 1999 (I believe that the projections that they made at the end of 1996 showed a 1999 loss of about $0.65). LGND continues to surprise on the upside, which should help them hold on to the STRONG BUY rating by Zack's.
