It may have been a misunderstanding on my part, but I understood the original post as saying the alcohol would be produced from waste paper fibre, which I agree is totally different from biomass. Biomass would produce ethanol and not methanol. The situation we worked with was that almost 1/3 of the potatoe crop was cull and had to be disposed of. The volume was so great the local landfill annually got 'overrun' so to speak, so alcohol production saved the disposal cost, offered a byproduct (the spent mash) that could be sold as feedstock to feedlots plus the sale of the alcohol itself.
