Its source, however, is the police. Which is more likely? That the police would fabricate this threat, or that officials would take pains to deny it despite its being true? “His teacher wants to confiscate his cell phone: the 14-year-old schoolboy threatens and attacks two teachers,” translated from “Son professeur veut lui confisquer son téléphone portable : le collégien de 14 ans menace et agresse deux enseignants,” AFP, December 21, 2023 (thanks to Medforth ): A 14-year-old schoolboy was arrested this Tuesday, December 19, 2023 in Maine-et-Loire, in Cholet, for violence and outrages committed against two teachers. His math teacher tried to confiscate his phone during class. The teenager, “described as causing difficulties,” had initially refused to give his phone to his mathematics teacher, who had caught him handling it, explains the Angers public prosecutor Eric Bouillard in a press release. After passing through the office of the director of Clémenceau school, the student tried to return to class to collect his belongings, “to which the teacher, assisted by another teacher and administrative staff, tried to oppose,” continues the magistrate. “The minor was belted and in the scene, pushed a teacher, kicked him and tried to deliver other blows,” explains the prosecutor. “Contrary to what may have been indicated, no death threat was reported by the victims,” underlines Mr. Bouillard. “Similarly, no religious references were made.” According to a police source cited by TF1, the teenager threatened to kill the teacher by swearing on the Qur’an, which the prosecutor denies. The schoolboy, already excluded from two establishments, was to appear shortly before a disciplinary council. Released, he will be summoned before a children’s judge for contempt of persons entrusted with a public service mission and violence in a school establishment, indicates the prosecutor.
