I think that's his personal portfolio and the time frame was 1950-56. Capital gains tax was 25% in 1956 according to ChatGPT. Buffett was working for Graham at that point and he hadn't set up shop at that point (so smaller portfolio).

After he sets up his own partnership you see a drop off in returns. Annual returns weren't greater than 50% until 1976. Though, '58 and '61 were still greater than 40% which is impressive!
